Incident

On October 10, 2024, a fire erupted in the equipment on the east side of a manufacturing facility. Smoke and soot spread throughout the production area, and the facility's fire suppression sprinkler system was activated, resulting in additional water exposure. Although a few items were irreparably damaged due to heat and water and needed to be replaced, AREPA was engaged to decontaminate six critical machines essential for production.

Challenges & Logistics

The facility was operating at full production capacity while preparing to move to a larger location. The current workspace was already cramped, necessitating careful planning to establish a dedicated area for decontamination.

The machining equipment had been exposed to water, smoke, and soot, which caused corrosion on bare, unprotected metal surfaces. AREPA successfully eliminated all contamination and corrosion, restoring the equipment to its pre-loss condition.

Outcome

AREPA conducted a thorough inspection and decontamination of the equipment, restoring it to its pre-loss condition ahead of schedule. This expedited process enabled the insured to resume production earlier than anticipated. Furthermore, all equipment was functionally tested, and the insured collaborated with their vendor for final calibration, ensuring that everything was fully operational and ready for use.
